Plans Revealed To Help Rape Victims

Sweden’s equality Ombudsman has given the media a sneak preview of his proposals to improve the justice system for victims of rape.

At a press conference on Thursday, Claes Borgström outlined his plans to increase the incentive for women to report attacks and speed up the whole legal process, including allowing victims to have access to a lawyer as soon as they are at a special emergency clinic such as the one opened at Stockholm’s söder hospital last week. Borgström is heading an inquiry into the treatment of the victims of sexual crimes.
