2:26 min

Sweden's foreign aid agency announced it will send humanitarian assistance to Venezuela for items like food and medical supplies.

Sida announced it will give SEK 65 million in aid to the south American nation that has been racked by a political and financial crisis since last summer.

The economic collapse has so far prompted more than 3 million people to leave the county, according to the UN refugee agency, UNHCR.

Sida's program manager for humanitarian assistance, Sara Martinez Bergström, tells Radio Sweden that the challenges and the need for help in Venezuela are great.
