Warning of New Influx of Refugees

The head of the Swedish Integration Board says refugee centers here should be prepared to receive three times as many asylum-seekers next year as previously forecast.

In his monthly Internet newsletter, agency head Andreas Carlgren bases his warning on the new law here which will allow underground rejected asylum-seekers to have their cases reviewed.

While he says it is difficult to say how many will surface, Carlgren believes there may be as many as 24,000 asylum-seekers next year, compared to just 8000 places in refugee centers.
