Sara Skyttedal is the Christian Democrats' top candidate in the election to the European Parliament.

The former chair of the Christian Democrats youth organisation says her party wants to steer a middle way between forces who want a Federal Europe and those populist powers who want to strengthen a nationalist approach.

The prospective MEP wants to dilute the EU's powers over social politics but would like greater cooperation between member states in foreign affairs.
