Private dentists revealed to be committing tax fraud

1:50 min

An investigation by the Swedish Tax Agency has revealed that around 50 private dentist clinics have committed tax fraud totaling approximately 25 million SEK.

Most of the fraud has been committed through fake patient records and treatments, and when patients have paid through Swish. As it stands today, the Swedish Tax Agency and the Swedish Social Insurance Agency aren't able to share data with each other, meaning each clinic needs to be investigated individually.

Lars Olsson, head of business policy for the association for private dental care clinics, has welcomed the investigation. He says there is a good case for a change in the law to make it easier to cross-check information the authorities currently have to go through manually.
