Malmö-Stockholm trains running again from Wednesday

Trains will again be running via Hässleholm from Wednesday 21st August onwards, after a stretch of damaged railway is set to reopen earlier than expected.

Last week, a fire in a nearby warehouse severely damaged the train tracks, signalling systems and contact wiring in the southern town, forcing passengers travelling by train from Malmö to Stockholm to find alternative routes or modes of transport. The Swedish Transport Administration originally said they expected train traffic could start again on Friday, but now parts will be up and running already Wednesday.

It is the trainline between Malmö and Stockholm that will open again in the early hours of Wednesday morning, as well the Blekinge coast line towards Kristianstad. Trains from Hässleholm towards Markaryd and Tyringe will however be back on track as originally forecast, on Friday.
