How will Sweden's Commissioner deal with the task of shaping EU migration policy?

3:43 min

Security and migration are some of the complex issues facing the European Union and a Swede will likely shape the bloc's policy on them.

Ylva Johansson was nominated on Tuesday as the next EU commissioner for home affairs. If approved, her task given by the Commission's president-elect will be to fix the EU's asylum policy and beef up its anti-terrorism work.

Johansson's task is an important one, says EU researcher Mark Rhinard, but he adds there will be plenty of challenges during the next five years.
