From October 1st, tenants who sub-let their apartments without permission from their landlord will face harsher consequences.

These include losing their contracts, having to pay fines, or even, in the worst case - prison sentences of up to two years.

Today, a tenant who has paid too much for a sublet can claim back money for one year. However, from October 1st the law will be changed to allow for money back for two years of rent.
