Åmål World’s Second Best Small Town

The small Swedish town of Åmål has finished second in the International Awards for Liveable Communities.

The LivCom awards, which are backed by the United Nations Environment Program, recognize the quality of lives of individual citizens. Åmål finished second to Dungannon in Ireland in the category for towns of less than 20,000 population.

Ironically, the 1998 prize-winning Swedish film, “Show Me Love”, centered around how boring life was in Åmål.
