The shared Nobel Physics Prize winners' research in physics is important in Sweden, says Nikolai Piskunov, professor of astronomy and space science from Uppsala University.

Several universities in Sweden are involved in the same research by Swiss researchers Michel Mayor and Didier Queloz, who discovered a planet outside our solar system.

Nikolai Piskunov also added that James Peebles' research opens up more questions in cosmology and that it's important to understand the future of the universe as well as the history.
