More than 11,000 scientists from some 150 countries signed a statement warning of "untold suffering" from to climate change.

The academics wrote the world needs to undergo "major transformations" to ensure a sustainable future. The statement was published on Tuesday in the journal BioScience.

Shortly after it was published though, it was pointed out that one of the names on the list was Micky Mouse from the Micky Mouse Institute For the Blind. The authors behind the statement later wrote that "a few invalid" signatures ended up on the list and added that, "We are thoroughly reviewing the full list at the moment and will make further updates if required."

Radio Sweden spoke with Per Adman, a senior lecturer of political science at Uppsala University and one of the signers from Sweden. He said scientists have an obligation to tell the public about what's coming.
