17 residents of Sweden were among those killed when a Ukrainian passenger flight crashed on Wednesday, Sweden's Foreign Ministry has confirmed.

Four British nationals and 63 Canadians were also among the 167 killed when the passenger plane crashed near Tehran. Speaking to Swedish Radio on Friday, Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven described Canadian intelligence asserting the plane was shot down by an Iranian missile as 'serious'.

Löfven added that the leaders of Sweden, Canada, the United Kingdom and Ukraine were all in agreement that a transparent and speedy investigation is needed in order to uncover the cause of the crash.
