Live Mine Closes Gothenberg Streets

Parts of the harbor area of the Swedish west coast port of Gothenberg have been closed off after a fishing boat brought in a live war mine in its nets.

Experts say that there are thousand of World War I and II mines and chemical weapons on the sea bed in west coast waters but that storms can bring up the arms to the surface.

After paralzyed rush-hour traffic in the harbor area was opened temporarily again, authorities claim there is no danger as long as the weapon is left alone but that streets must be closed off later since disarmament at sea can risk an explosion.
