Police confront anti-fascist demonstrators

Vandalism in Wake of Anti-Fascist Demo

More than one thousand right wing extremists demonstrated peacefully in a Stockholm suburb Saturday.

They were marking the fifth anniversary of the killing of a teenage skinhead.

But a counter-demonstration led to vandalism in central Stockholm. The anti-fascist protest was held away from the suburb, specifically to avoid clashes between the two groups.

Police removed around 70 demonstrators from the center of the city for disturbing public order, and 11 were taken into custody charged with assault, vandalism, and interfering with law enforcement officers.
