Radio Sweden Has Left Hot Bird 6

After five years, Radio Sweden left the Hot Bird 6 satellite on January 31, 2006.

European satellite listeners should switch to Sirius 2, which has the same coverage area as Hot Bird 6.

Installation information for Sirius 2:

Position: 5 degrees East
Transponder: 35
Frequency: 12.380 GHz
Horizontal polarisation, Symbol rate: 27500, FEC ¾
Service name: R Sweden 1 and R Sweden 2.

Sirius 2 has a strong signal in Europe and listeners should be able to hear us with smaller antennas than required for Hot Bird 6. Here are some examples:

Spain  60 cm
Greece, Turkey and Cyprus  70 cm
Canary Islands  180 cm
Israel and Egypt  80-100 cm
Iran (Tehran)  130 cm
