Radio Sweden Special

Friends and family members of Swedish Tsunami victims gather on Khao Lak Beach, Thailand, Dec. 26, 2005, to attend the first anniversary memorial service

Today, Radio Sweden gives you another chance to listen to the first of a two-part special, looking at the devastating south-east Asian tsunami, one year on.

More than 20,000 Swedes were holidaying in the region when the tsunami struck.  Over 1500 were injured, more than 500 are still listed as dead or missing and 15 children were orphaned.

In part one, we’ll be talking with survivors and heroes, as well as those who have worked tirelessly to help those who made it out alive.

Part two of the series will be broadcast on Friday the 6th of January 2006
