ABBA's Benny Andersson helped a Red Cross campaign

Record Year for Charities

Swedish charities say 2005 will be a record year for contributions.

The Swedish Red Cross tells the newspaper “Dagens Industri” it has received almost three times as much this year as usual. About half the donations have been to aid victims of the Asian tsunami disaster.

Save the Children, UNICEF, Church of Sweden Aid, and other charities all report generous contributions this year.
