Swedish grocery store target of boycott.

Published måndag 9 januari 2006 kl 12.42

The anti-discrimination bureau in Gothenburg is pushing for a boycott of one of Sweden’s largest grocery store chains.

The move comes after a local ICA grocery store allegedly fired a number of employees because of the color of their skin.  Last week, the bureau met with top management at the store where 16 employees say they’ve been discriminated against. ICA wants to take the matter to the anti-discrimination ombudsman but the bureau says that this could take at least a year to resolve, while it’s already been a year since the conflict between employees and ICA first bubbled to the surface.
