Swedish Economy Expanding

Finance Minister Par Nuder says the Swedish economy will expand by close to 3.6 percent this year, and that the government expects to revise up its budget surplus estimate.

Growth in Sweden has been picking up speed since a slow start to 2005 with the economy expected to have expanded by 2.7 percent last year, outstripping most of the rest of Europe.

The National Institute of Economic Research has also forecast growth in 2006 at 3.6 percent.
