Air Travel Up

Passenger air travel increased in Sweden during January.

The Swedish Civil Aviation Authority reports the number of passengers at Swedish airports rose by 8 percent compared to the same month last year. The biggest increase was to destinations abroad, especially outside Europe.

The Scandinavian Airlines System reported a parallel increase Tuesday. SAS says its total passenger traffic was up 8.4 percent in January, compared to the same month last year. Intercontinental traffic was down, but SAS Group European travel increased by more than 19 percent.
