Swedish Farmers Hurt by Moslem Boycott

Published tisdag 7 februari 2006 kl 11.58
A sign urging Saudi consumers to boycott Danish products

There’s concern here that outrage in the Moslem world over the publication of satirical cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed in a Danish newspaper is hurting Swedish farmers.

Danish products are being boycotted in many countries in the Middle East and North Africa, and one of the targets is the Danish-Swedish dairy cooperative Arla, which has an annual turnover in the region of around 500 million dollars.

The boycott is estimated to be costing Arla around 1.5 million dollars a day.
