ABB Admits Possible Bribes

The Swedish-Swiss engineering company ABB says it has disclosed to American authorities that it made payments in several countries that might have violated U.S. anti-bribery laws.

At least one of the countries was in the Middle East. ABB says it has reported the payments to the Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission.

American laws apply to ABB because it is listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
