Hundreds of Palestinians threw stones at the headquarters of international observers in the West Bank Wednesday, in protest over satirical cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed.
The Temporary International Presence in Hebron is staffed by personnel from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Italy, Switzerland and Turkey.
Because of damage to its four buildings, the international monitors have decided to leave Hebron for the time being.
On Tuesday soldiers in the Nordic peacekeeping force in Afghanistan, including a Swedish observation group, came under attack by hundreds of demonstrators protesting the cartoons. Three demonstrators were killed.
