Ericsson equiptment ended up with Serbia's Mobtel

Ericsson Accused of Breaking UN Sanctions

The newspaper “Expressen” reports that the Swedish telecommunications company Ericsson defied United Nations sanctions and sold mobile telephone equipment to Serbia in 1995.

Expressen says the deal was made through a Russian company created just for the purpose, to circumvent the trade sanctions imposed during the war in Bosnia.

Ericsson tells the newspaper that it was unaware of the identity of the final customer, but an investigator for the current Serbian government says it was impossible for the Swedish telecoms maker not to know.
