Anja Pärson Takes Olympic Bronze

Anja Pärson won Sweden’s third medal of the Winter Olympics Wednesday, taking bronze in the women’s Alpine skiing downhill.

She was six-tenths of a second behind the first place finisher, Michaela Dorfmeister of Austria.

The Swedish men’s curling team was in first place in the round robin standings Wednesday, despite a 9 to 4 defeat at the hands of Norway.

Meanwhile, Minnesota Wild defenseman Daniel Tjärnqvist scored twice as Sweden won 7-2 over Kazakhstan in the opening game of the Olympic men’s ice hockey tournament.

Sweden took its first Winter Olympic gold medals in 12 years Tuesday, winning both the men’s and women’s cross-country skiing team sprints.
