Anja Pärson's First Olympic Gold

Gold in Turin!

Sweden stamped its mark on the Winter Games in Turin Wednesday with Alpine skier Anja Pärson winning the women’s slalom and cross-country athlete Björn Lind helping this country equal its previous best ever medal haul.

Pärson’s first Olympic gold medal, won in thick fog and despite an injury, gave Sweden its fourth gold of the Games and its 10th medal in all.
