Grounded Ship Pulled Loose

A freighter than that ran aground in southern Sweden last week was pulled loose Sunday.

According to the Swedish Coast Guard, the Antiguan-flagged Vita could be hauled out to deeper water after most of its cargo of fertilizer was removed. There were no injuries when it ran aground and there are no reported signs of oil leaks.

The ship’s Latvian captain has been remanded in custody on charges of serious intoxication.
