Electrolux Strike Over

The strike at the Electrolux factory in Nuremburg, Germany is over.

The Swedish-based home appliance maker has reached an agreement with the IG Metall union on the terms for the closure of the plant, including a severance package for employees, as well as pre-retirement schemes.

Workers have been on strike at the German factory since late last month, over the world’s largest white goods maker’s plans to move production to Poland and Italy. Closure of the Nuremburg factory is estimated to begin in July, and is to be concluded by the end of 2007.
