Environmental foreign aid boosted

Sweden’s ruling Social Democrats and their informal support parties in parliament - the Greens and the Left Party – have reached an agreement on providing funds for environmental foreign aid projects.

Most of the funds are to be channelled through the Swedish foreign aid authority, rather than be used as export funds to help Swedish companies reach new markets. This was a chief demand from the Green party.

The Social Democrats say they think that Swedish companies working in the environmental fields will still get involved, since some of them are well known for their green technology.
