Easier Birth in Kneeling Position

According to new Swedish research, first time pregnant women who give birth kneeling experience less pain that those who deliver in a seated position.

The results have been published in the British journal BJOG. The team from the University of Mälardalen in Västerås followed 271 healthy first time mothers.

Several studies have already reported the advantages of an upright delivery position compared to lying down. However, this is the first time researchers have compared the two most common upright delivery positions, kneeling and sitting.
