Pride Festival To Take Place In Gay Hate Pastor’s Town

A gay rights group has announced plans to hold a gay pride parade in the home town of the anti-gay pastor Åke Green.

The Pentecostalist pastor garnered international headlines by referring in a sermon to homosexuality as a sexual abnormality and a tumour on the body of society.

He was prosecuted under Swedish laws on agitation against minority groups and was given a short jail sentence. He was later cleared on appeal to the high court. Now gay rights group RFSL will hold a festival in the pastor’s home town of Borgholm on the island of Öland. Priest Reine Medelius , one of the organizers, said that Borgholm was seen as the original town of prejudice and they want to change that.
