Walpurgis Eve Bonfires and Violence

Walpurgis Eve bonfires were held around Sweden Sunday, a centuries-old tradition welcoming the arrival of Spring.

As usual the day was marked by incidents of public drunkenness, and associated violence.

There were a number of fights and assaults, including a knifing and an attack with a knife, and one reported rape.
