SAS Fingerprint Check-in

The Scandinavian Airlines System will be the first carrier here to require fingerprints from domestic passengers.

Following new EU rules, passengers’ identities have to be confirmed both when checking-in luggage and boarding. This is currently done manually, checking ID cards, but SAS is introducing a biometric system using fingerprints.

The new system will be inaugurated at Luleå airport in the north in September, and then will gradually be introduced at SAS’s other domestic airports. It is to be fully in operation by the end of the year.
