Greens Call for Parental Benefits

The Swedish Green Party wants the parents of small children to be able to work part-time with a state benefit to partly make up the difference.

As the annual politics week continues on the island of Gotland, on Tuesday it was the turn of the Greens, who support the minority Social Democrat government in parliament.

Party co-speakers Maria Wetterstrand and Peter Ericsson proposed allowing the parents of small children to work 75 percent, and receive around 200 dollars a month as a benefit.
