Man Shot During Police Confrontation

A 76 year old man was shot by police in southern Sweden Saturday, during a stand-off at his house.

The confrontation started after the man began randomly firing hunting rifles at his surroundings, then shot rounds at the police for several hours. After wounding the man in the stomach, the police fired teargas into the house and stormed in, arresting the man in his attic.

The police say the man has no record, and speculate the attacks may have been brought on by some kind of mental collapse.
