More bureaucracy not less for companies in Sweden

Despite the Swedish government’s ambitions to reduce the amount of rules companies have to deal with, a new study shows the amount is actually increasing.

The Confederation of Swedish Enterprise says demands on companies grow with every other new rule suggested by the government and parliament, and it is costing them dearly.

In the past few years, a thousand new rules or changes to rules have been brought in.

More than half of them are said to have made things more complicated for businesses, while less than a fifth have simplified things.
