DAB "Hard" on Households
The Swedish government has issued a statement explaining its decision to withdraw support for digital radio DAB.
Last week the government said it would not be approving a schedule for turning off FM transmitters. The press release from Minister of Culture Leif Pagrotsky blames difficulties for consumers to replace all their FM receivers, and says that there are other digital alternatives which have not been explored.
Swedish Radio Director General Peter Örn says the government has an antiquated view of public broadcasting. Radio Sweden is part of Swedish Radio. The government’s DAB decision does not affect our test broadcasts in digital DRM.
