Nearly a fifth of Swedes lack sufficient savings

A recent survey found about 20 percent of women and men have less than a month's salary or nothing at all set aside for a rainy day.

Many personal finance experts recommend having enough savings to cover at least 6 months' of bills.

P1 Morgon, Swedish Radio's morning news program, reports that many Swedes don't know how close to the edge they can come when they don't build up a financial cushion.

However, the online survey did find that, when compared to last year, more people are trying to save. Both the number of men and women with at least a year's salary on hand grew in 2018.
